SAFETY FIRST
Safety recommendations
Employers shall carry out a risk assessment on all individual abrasive processes to determine the appropriate protective measures necessary. They shall ensure that their employees are suitably trained to carry out their duties. All users of abrasive products in the interest of their personal safety shall follow recommendations contained in Safety recommendations leaflet.
For more detailed information on the safe use of abrasive products, please refer to Safety Codes • FEPA Safety Code for Bonded Abrasives and Precision Superabrasives • FEPA Safety Code for Coated Abrasives • FEPA Safety Code for Superabrasives for Stone and Construction

DI European Directives
DI 85/374/EEC 25/07/1985 The Product Liability Directive defines a regime of strict liability for defective products.
DI 92/58/EEC 24/06/1992 This directive lays down minimum requirements for the provision of safety and/or health sign at work.
DI 95/16/EC 29/06/1995 Permits the free circulation of lifts and its safety components within the internal EU market and ensures a high level of safety for lift users and maintenance staff.
DI 98/37/EC 22/06/1998 Harmonises the design and construction of machinery with the aim of protecting the safety of workers using such machinery.
DI 2001/95/EC 03/12/2001 Applies in the absence of specific European regulations, governing the safety of certain categories of products or if specific regulations (sectoral) are insufficient. Furthermore, it is to be applied without prejudice to Directive 85/374/EEC concerning liability for defective products.
DI 2006/42/EC 17/05/2006 Provides the regulatory basis for the harmonisation of the essential health and safety requirements for machinery at European Union level. Replaces the Machinery Directive 98/37/EC.

Voluntary Product Information (VPI) based on the format of a Safety Data Sheet
Under the REACH Regulation, the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are only foreseen for substances and mixtures.
For this reason a Safety Data Sheet has not to be provided by MABTOOLS for its abrasive products.
MABTOOLS, as a member of FEPA, has nonetheless decided, on a voluntary basis and with no legal obligation, to provide a Voluntary Product Information (VPI) with the same format of a Safety Data Sheet.
